The Senior Organic Gardeners are always occupied and engaged in the month of May. We thank Rob Danforth, our Garden Coach, for participating in Just Food’s Seedling Saturday on May 10. Rob was present throughout the event to expertly and patiently answer gardening questions from the attendees.
We made our annual drive north to Farrelton, Quebec on the holiday Monday to pick up two carloads of seedlings from Catherine at Northern Seeds. By Wednesday our ten community groups had their first delivery of plants. Friday we drove south to Slow Roots Farm in Kemptville to pick up our second batch of seedlings.
Rita and Betty filled their cars with seedlings for six of our ten groups. We thank volunteers Gavin and Aida for picking up and delivering seedlings for four OCH groups. Mat, owner of Slow Roots Farm, made sure the seedlings were well protected in the pick up.
